The Kennedy-Roth Amendment to the 1992-93 Defense Authorizations Act repealed provisions banning women from serving aboard aircraft engaged in combat missions. On April 28,1993, then Secretary of Defense Les Aspin signed the policy change and the rest is history. Women have succesfully flown in combat for twenty years.
Out of the thousands of pilots serving in the armed forces in combat billets, it is an extremely small number who are female. What’s it like to be Women of Mass Destruction?
